Eligibility For 2026 Stemler Scholarships

  • Only students who paid their membership dues to Alpha Lambda Delta prior to February 15, 2026.

  • Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 (on a 4.0 scale) or higher.

  • The student's study abroad program must take place between May 1, 2026 and May 31, 2027.

Application Procedure & Tips

  • Take your time to develop thoughtful and thorough responses in advance by using the practice application Word document (available in the early fall) prior to completing the application online. Be sure your responses are confined to the space allotted in the application.

  • We recommend you reach out to an advisor or mentor once you have completed the practice application to review your responses and provide any feedback prior to completing the online application.

  • Let your ALD Chapter Advisor know that you plan to apply to an ALD scholarship; they may have additional insight or recommendations for completing your application. Complete the application form, making sure to answer each applicable question completely.

  • Prepare the supplemental materials. Each application must be accompanied by:

    • Complete transcripts (official or unofficial) from each college/university attended;

    • One reference form (to be completed by the person providing the reference). This reference can be from a professor, employer, campus advisor, or ALD advisor. The reference form needs to be submitted via ALD’s application portal by the deadline. The application will ask you for their name and email address, which then generates an email to them with a link to complete.

      • It is your responsibility to follow up with the person you’ve requested a recommendation from to ensure they complete it in time. Your application will be disqualified if a recommendation form is not submitted by the deadline.

      • We highly encourage applicants to reach out to their preferred reference well in advance to confirm their ability to complete a recommendation form on your behalf.

      • You can log into your application after submitting it to see the status of your recommendation request and send reminder emails.

  • Complete the online application, making sure to answer each applicable question completely.

  • Applications cannot be saved and returned to; they must be completed in one sitting and cannot be edited once submitted.
