designing Your Professional BRand

Wednesday, August 6, 11am ET (10am CT, 9am MT, 8am PT, 7pm GMT+4)

Presented by: Dr. Amy Wilson, Professor & Chair, Higher Education Administration and Adult Education Department, Buffalo State University

As consumers, we often have our favorite professional brands, our “go-to” products, so to speak. As professionals, we also develop a brand of our own, our professional reputation. This session is designed to get you thinking intentionally about designing your professional brand, one that allows you to be your authentic self yet acknowledges your growth potential! Defining your desired professional brand can be the necessary foundation for building a sustainable career in any field. Your professional brand should encompass both your personal and professional values, requiring authenticity and consistency in how you show up…just like our go-to products. Come learn about the concept of professional branding, reflect upon your current brand, and how to shape your desired professional brand.

Presented by: Dr. Kim Kline, Professor, Higher Education Administration and Adult Education Department, Buffalo State University

Hygge, a Danish way of life, is about more than just coziness—it's a cultural philosophy centered around comfort, mindfulness, and connection. Experiencing Hygge is “Taking time to slow down, be present, and find joy in everyday moments.” Denmark consistently ranks as one of the happiest countries in the world due to its emphasis on mental well-being, social support, and life balance. There is a focus on collective care and community over individual achievement. Work-life balance is a cornerstone of their culture, promoting low-stress environments.

Learn more about Hygge, as we brainstorm ways to implement these practices in your everyday life and your chapter, to help members feel a part of the ALD community.
