Student Member-at-Large

The Board of Directors of Alpha Lambda Delta is the group responsible for making policy decisions for the organization.  The Board is comprised of three Officers, four Professional Members-at-Large, and three Student Members-at-Large. Click here for the SMAL Application.

Position Description

Current Student Members-At-Large

The Student Member-at-Large is expected to:

  • Participate fully in Board of Directors meetings.

    • Participate in discussions, contribute to making decisions that ensure the Society's future and maintain its adherence to the purposes and goals established in the Bylaws.

  • Serve on and/or chair committees.

    • Committee obligations occur both at the summer meeting and throughout the year.

    • As the needs of the Society demand, serve on ad hoc and special committees.

  • Interact with chapters and advisors as requested and appropriate.

    • Interaction may include phone calls, emails, letters, attendance at inductions, and other special events.

  • Attend and assist with the annual leadership conferences.

  • Serve in other capacities that are useful to the Society.

Overview of the Time Commitment & Eligibility

  • Student is selected in March 2026.

  • Attend first Board meeting, June 26-30, 2026, in Memphis, TN.

  • Attend the 2026 fall conference, and play a role assisting, October 30 - November 1, in San Antonio, TX.

  • Attend summer meeting third or fourth week of June 2027 (location TBA).

  • Attend the 2027 fall conference and play a role assisting, third or fourth weekend in October 2027 (location TBA)

  • Attend summer meeting third or fourth week of June 2028. At this point it is likely the end of your senior year. You may have just graduated and are off to a new job or grad school, but it is expected that you attend this final summer meeting.

  • You must be enrolled as a student at a campus with an active ALD chapter the entire length of your term.

  • Students at the same chapter/institution as current board members are NOT eligible.

All travel expenses are paid for by ALD Headquarters.
