IRS Apology Letter

If your chapter received a letter from the IRS stating "Your organization's tax-exempt status has been revoked automatically because you have not filed for three years," you may disregard the notice!

On August 8, 2011, Alpha Lambda Delta's National Office received a letter from the IRS, acknowledging that the revocation letters (known as a Form CP120A) were a mistake and that the revoked chapters would be placed back on tax-exempt status.  (To view the complete letter, click here).

From the letter:

We have confirmed that one or more of your subordinates were erroneously put on the Auto-Revocation list.  You may disregard the CP120A notice we previously sent.  They will be removed from the Auto-Revocation list in approximately one to two weeks.  If they were previously listed in Publication 78 and removed because of the error, they will be relisted on the next regular update...

We apologize for any inconvenience we may have caused you, and thank you for your cooperation.

National Alpha Lambda Delta would also like to apologize for any inconvenience this error may have caused you, and would like to thank all of our chapter advisors and officers for their patience while we work with the IRS to resolve this mistake.
