Donate to Alpha Lambda Delta
In 1924, Dean of Women Maria Leonard founded Alpha Lambda Delta in order to honor exceptional students at the University of Illinois. Ninety-one years later, Alpha Lambda Delta is still celebrating success!
Why give to Alpha Lambda Delta?
Since the Great Recession of 2008, the cost of higher education has far exceeded the rate of inflation. Between 2001 and 2010 the cost of a university education soared - from 23% of median annual earnings to 38%; in consequence, student debt has doubled in the past 15 years. Two-thirds of graduates now take out loans.
Alpha Lambda Delta helps members meet these rising costs with scholarships and fellowships. Since Alpha Lambda Delta offered its first fellowship in 1940, over 1,350 students have received over $2.75 million from Alpha Lambda Delta. Annually, Alpha Lambda Delta awards almost $200,000 in scholarships and fellowships, but we want to do even more! Your support can help us surpass $200,000!
