Applying for the Order of the Torch:
To apply for the Order of the Torch, prepare a scrapbook
detailing your chapter's activities, complete with pictures,
clippings, programs, etc. Send your original scrapbook along
with one high-quality color photocopy of the book (or another
duplicate scrapbook) to the National Office (address below).
Include a letter of support from a campus official other than
a chapter advisor. Applications are due by May 1 -
please mail early to ensure plenty of time for arrival in Macon, GA
before May 1.
Applications will be judged on:
- Chapter Involvement - How successful is the chapter
in getting its members actively involved in service and other
chapter projects?
- Programming - Does the chapter hold and take part in
several varied service, leadership, fellowship, and other
projects throughout the course of the year?
- Chapter Communication - How effectively does the
chapter communicate with the membership, with campus leadership,
and with the campus and community at large?
- Presentation - Is the application prepared in a
careful, attractive manner?
Applying for Maintaining the Flame:
If your chapter has won the Order of the Torch within the past
four years, you should apply for Maintaining the Flame.
The judging criteria for Maintaining the Flame are the same as
for Order of the Torch. Your chapter should continue to
show innovation and improvement - not simply maintaining the
status quo - in all areas in order to be competitive for
Maintaining the Flame.
Send
one copy of a scrapbook detailing your chapter's activities
to the National Office (address below), along with a cover letter
from a chapter officer.
